Activities & Outings
All residents undergo an individual assessment to plan your activity likes and dislikes and interests. This is carried out by your key nurse and a member of the activities staff and is incorporated into your care plan.
In order to enhance the care provided and enable you to fulfil your personal, social and psychological needs the following services and activities are available within TLC Centre Maynooth.
Scheduled activities will be planned and these will be communicated to you by displaying a schedule in prominent places throughout the center, along with our regular newsletter and our activities team will be able to discuss them with you.
Various activities will be provided and we welcome any suggestions about activities that you might like but are not addressed.
We run a range of activities every day at the TLC Maynooth Centre including:
- Sensory stimulation
- Music therapy
- Ball games
- Reminiscence therapy
- Board games
Regular Off-site Activities
- Outings are organized for you regularly to places such as Croke Park, the Theatre, shopping centres etc.
- There are three beautiful garden areas with garden furniture where barbeques are held during the summer months.
- Live bands and musicians and Grand Canal Theatre are booked on a regular basis to provide resident involved entertainment.
Regular On-site Activities
Residents are given the opportunity to get involved in gardening activities including caring for plants and flowers, and growing herbs and vegetables in the green house.
Football matches are shown on the large screen in the sitting room near the foyer. Wii sport is also available to you to promote fun and assist in limb strengthening. Live music is organised weekly.
There is a library with a large number of books to meet your varying tastes. A weekly movie club is available for residents to attend. Classic, age appropriate movies are shown; however all requests are accommodated.
Pet therapy attends every Tuesday evening throughout the year. Art classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays for all those that wish to attend.
Those residents that are very independent and have no cognitive impairment are free to go to the shops or local hotel/pub for a drink as they desire.
‘Fine Dining’ is held on the third Friday of every month. There is Yoga for all residents on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
When the weather is good the residents visit such attractions as the Zoo or The Japanese Gardens etc. and families are welcome to come too. Pottery classes are organised every Friday everyone is welcome to attend.

Medical Services at TLC Maynooth
Medical Services Provided
TLC Centre Maynooth makes arrangements for each resident to receive appropriate medical care from a General Practitioner of their choice. TLC Centre Maynooth has an arrangement in place with the Aylesbury Clinic Celbridge to provide primary General Practitioner Services to residents. The GP from the Aylesbury Clinic visits the centre three days a week on a routine basis and attends at other times on the basis of need. The Kildare and West Wicklow Doctor on Call Service provides GP cover outside of working hours. Residents access the GP service through the General Medical Scheme (GMS/Medical Card) where appropriate, or by registering as a private patient of the General Practitioners Surgery. TLC Centre Maynooth accommodates other GP’s to attend the centre, at the request of residents.
Specialised Medical Services Provided
The Community Liaison Team based on Connolly Hospital consisting of a Consultant Geriatrician, a Specialist Registrar and her team visit us here at TLC Maynooth on a bimonthly basis. They provide an excellent person centred approach to Medical Care of the older person. The team discuss treatment options with residents and families to ensure an optimum level of care is provided along with the care given by our team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
Allied Health Professional Services Provided
TLC Centre Maynooth provides a physiotherapy service 5 days per week between the hours of 8:30 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. This service is available to all residents on the basis of need. Other Allied Health Professional Services are provided on a regular basis by visiting Healthcare Practitioners as outlined in Figure 2 of our full Statement of Purpose and Function Brochure.
